Course Code: FA-7

This course aims to provide the first aider with knowledge and skills to survive first aid emergencies that may occur in remote areas; these skills are quite different from that of an Urban First Aider. Participants will be impressed on the need for history taking, documentation and ongoing assessment of a First Aider, as well as the knowledge to select the most suitable first aid kit and equipment for the emergency.

Participants will be able to identify the need for preparation for rescue and extrication, principles of triage applied in a multiple accident situation as well as managing on-going care in a remote area and the management and assessing of casualties at Primary and Secondary levels according to the St. John Standard. Training also includes consideration for emotional factors as well as for the rights of the deceased.

Prerequisites: Senior First Aid (FA-1) or Apply First Aid (FA-1A) certificate
