The course aims to provide the participants with the knowledge and practice skills to take up the position of an offshore lifeboat coxswain. Participants will be educated on the offshore emergency response arrangements, which includes lifeboat operation, maintenance as well as the operation of onboard equipment.

Participants will also be trained to demonstrate course determination and steering by compass, the identification of safe areas and weather conditions, man-over-board (MOB) exercises as well as towing exercises. This course will also train participants in the preparation and carrying out of transfer of personnel to rescue vessel, usage of sea anchor, emergency steering as well as the recovery and securing of the lifeboat.
