The course aims to provide & improve participant knowledge and skills in operating four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicles on unsealed surfaces and offroad, identify and mitigate the risks associated with the activity, reduce vehicle running costs/ damage and be more aware of environmental issues.

Participants will be made aware of issues and risks associated with operating 4WD vehicles, with emphasis given on operation in remote areas. Along with this is a deeper understanding on the 4WD system and its various functions and uses as deemed suitable for a particular situation. In the event of an unforeseen emergency, safe recovery techniques are also a part of this course.

Participants will also take part in practical sessions in order to develop the necessary skills and technique to manoeuvre 4WD vehicles on unsealed roads and in offroad situations.
