This course aims to give participants the skills and knowledge of basic first aid needed to be able to deal with the injuries most likely to occur in everyday life.

On completion of the course, participants will understand the legal issues surrounding first aid as well as be able to describe the principles of first aid. Topics such as infection control, respitory system and the circulatory system will also be covered in this course, including the recovery position, application of DRSABCD and alternative recovery positions.

Other topics covered in this course would be CPR application, airway management and usage of an Automated External Defribillator and digital blood pressure machines. Participants will also be trained in performing triages, movement of casualties and the managing of bleeding, shock and anaphylaxis.

Identification of causes of loss of consciousness will also be covered in this course, as well as identification and management of fractures, poisoning, bites and stings as well as mananging injuries to the eyes and ears. Participants will also be instructed on the effects of environmental conditions with regards to managing injuries and casualties. Stress monitoring, drugs abuse management and usage of first aid kits will also be covered in this course.
